A VERY fun Collector's Item or fun book for the kids- Educational and highly entertaining
This is a fabulous coloring and activity book. It reminds me of all the best things from the Highlights Magazine (the best part of going to the dentist). Not only is there the story of who Barack Obama is, but the entire book is about him and his charming family, instead of only a couple of pages, as was the case in a different Obama coloring book I bought. It would be a very cool keepsake of this historical time, so buy one for yourself and one for all the kids in your life!

Inside you will find very fun things to do- not just coloring but dot-to-dot, mazes, picking out which items are different, coloring by number, matching objects, finding things in the oval office (which probably really does look like that now with 2 kids living in the white house). There is much more to do as well- paper dolls, finger puppets, and even tic-tack-toe.

As an artist, I LOVE the fact that there are grids that can teach you to draw with remarkable accuracy. I don't recall seeing that in a book for young kids before. And you can draw in Barack's face as well before you color that page.

As a mom, I really love the motivational pages- like the page that says YES YOU CAN be anything you want with many career possibilities to color. I also really loved the Obama play money. Playing store was a favorite activity of my kids. There is a page where you can fill in what YOU would do if you were president, which really gets kids to think.

I also love the pages on Michelle and the kids. I have not admired a woman more than Michelle in a very long time. My generation had to work much harder as women than men did, in order to prove we were equal to them and could do the same jobs. Many of us had to delay having a family or were made to feel like we were not doing the right thing (to our employers) if we quit our jobs or took time off to care for the kids. I love the fact that the book says that Michelle's first priority is her kids.

In short, how could anyone not have a great deal of fun with this book and a box of crayons or colored pencils?
